To structure efforts of energy efficiency in urban development a key fields with respective domains was structured in a general framework. The result indicates 5 key fields of urban development in which energy efficiency is supposed to become important. Respective domains are defined from a strategic point of view in order to identify innovation potentials on the background of the recent situation/performance. When creating a baseline for energy efficiency in a city one should consider what indicators exist in each domain. What is measured already today? If missing, can new indicators be set up?
Besides the survey on the importance of the different key fields and domains, also a list of potential indicators representing the domains were defined in PLEEC (see Deliverable 2.4 Methodology for Monitoring). Some data related these indicators can be seen in the PLEEC map below, showing data for the 6 PLEEC cities as well as municipalities in Denmark (collected in a spin-off project).
